The average student loan debt of South Dakota has $ 25,750 per graduate in 2013 and 72 percent of graduates have debt, it ranked second race between the percentage of 2013 graduates with student loan debt. Minnesota reported student loan debt on average $ 30,894 and 70 percent of graduates in 2013 have debt, it ranked fourth in the nation for the percentage of 2013 graduates with student loan debt
A report released in November of Debt Student Project of The Institute for College Access & Success found that in 2013 almost 70 percent of graduating seniors at public universities and private non-profit has a student loan. National average debt for graduates is $ 28,400, up two percent from the previous year.
This report is also prepared for the state average student debt at graduation. North Dakota is the only state that did not receive the ratings, however. According to the authors of the report, it collects data based on information voluntarily submitted by institutions of higher education and does not calculate the average state if the data is sent covered less than 30 percent of bachelor's degree recipients or if the underlying data for the country show one or more of the changes -Third the average debt of the previous year. Used data submitted by agencies North Dakota only reaches 25 percent of bachelor's degree graduates, according to the report.
